Art can mean and do many things. It can create awareness; it can memorialize; and it can revolutionize, to name a few. While realizing and appreciating all of these capabilities, I still find it refreshing to see pieces that are stripped of any intense undercurrent or any intent to sway or influence. Reduce the need to analyze and simply enjoy what is set before you.

The works in this show do not need explanation. Nor do they need an in depth backstory to give them context and meaning. They stand firm as they are.

These images were captured by Pat Garrett, while on a journey through Southern Italy, and they convey the timeless beauty of the land and those that call it home.

I’ve been a dreamer all of my life and it’s images such as these that allow me to release the burdens I carry and delve into a foreign world.

It is my hope that these images allow the viewer to escape on a quick retreat – a way to briefly abandon all the stresses of everyday life and bask in the visual beauty of a culture so different from our own.
