Workers on Amazon's Mechanical Turk were paid to find an artwork in the public domain that they loved. They then cropped it a multitude of ways to prepare it for your browser. Wikipedia describes Mechanical Turk as, "a crowdsourcing marketplace that enables computer programs to co-ordinate the use of human intelligence to perform tasks which computers are unable to do."
Art work selected includes print of "Frankenstein," and picture of a Bible, a picture of Maracas, a island landscape, and others.
The original "Favorite Works of the Mechanical Turks" was exhibited just before the public release of Add-Art.
